Plain-language verdicts

Likely eligible, May qualify, or Need more info — in words a tired parent can read at 10pm, never jargon.

Official links + last-verified dates

California, in depth

Deep coverage of Medi-Cal, the Self-Determination Program, IHSS, and regional centers — with more states deepening over time.

Cited, never invented

Every program ties back to an official source. If we can't verify something, we say so instead of guessing.

This is general guidance, not an eligibility determination or legal advice. Programs, eligibility, and waitlists change often and vary by state — confirm directly with each program before relying on it.

Frequently asked questions

What benefits can an autistic child or adult get?

Depending on state, income, and support needs, families may qualify for Medicaid (including ABA, speech, and OT under EPSDT for children), Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers, SSI cash assistance, IHSS-style personal care, regional center services, ABLE savings accounts, and vocational rehabilitation. The Autism Universe maps which of these you are likely eligible for based on your details.

Is this an eligibility determination?

No. The benefits finder gives general guidance — it shows which programs you are likely or may be eligible for so you know where to apply. Only the program agency can make an official eligibility determination. This is not legal or financial advice.

Which states are covered?

All 50 states plus federal programs. California has the deepest coverage today (Medi-Cal, the Self-Determination Program, IHSS, and regional centers), and we are deepening other states over time.

Is the benefits finder free?

Yes. Family Free accounts can see their personalized benefits map. Family Pro ($12/month or $99/year) adds the financial-aid finder, deadline tracking, and the full assistant. Families on Medicaid can request a free Pro scholarship.

Is my family's information private?

Yes. The details you share are encrypted at rest and in transit, scoped to your account, and never sold or used to train AI models. You can export or delete your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How current is the eligibility information?

Programs change often, so each program shows the date we last verified it and links to the official source. We refresh program data on a schedule and flag anything stale — always confirm directly with the program before relying on it.

Stop guessing what you qualify for.
